Day 1 - 3 |
Upon arrival at Kochi a representative meets you and transfers you to a hotel in Ernakulam. Unwind and settle down. The remainder of the day is free at leisure. You could take time to visit heritage sites in Cochin or walk through the chaotic crowd in the Ernakulam Street. The next morning after a good breakfast you drive to Thatekkad bird sanctuary, a 25 square kilometer reserve. You will stay in a tented camp or optionally you could also choose to stay in a homestay. Explore bird life. A naturalist will meet you at the sanctuary and accompany you on this birding trip. You can hope to find some wildlife that inhabits the forest. A simple vegetarian food (lunch, dinner, breakfast, tea/coffee etc) is served during the three-day trip. After some birding you will stay at a treetop or machan at night at this camp to catch a glimpse of some of the nocturnal birds too. You will also visit some more spots to see some more birds. After breakfast, we will trek back to catch the ferry by 10 am on the 3rd day.

Day 3 |
We will drive this morning to Munnar in our vehicle. You will check into a plantation resort. You can hangout around the resort or just relax. You can go for a sunset trekking in the evening through the cardamom plantation with the guide from the resort. Overnight at the resort with the view of the valley.

Day 4 & 5 |
At 7 am leave for Chinnar wildlife sanctuary from Munnar drive time 2 hrs. You will reach the sanctuary. Trek 2km to a small village point. You will trek through this dry deciduous forest for about 2 hours. You have a local guide and a naturalist during this trek. You will reach a thatched hut. After lunch and a short rest you will start again to reach a thatched hut. Simple vegetarian food is cooked here. The hut is site sensitive and comfortable. Overnight in the hut.

Day 6 |
Enjoy a spectacular sunrise and after breakfast trek back from Chinnar. Your vehicle will take you to Thekaddy today. You could go for plantation visit; boat ride and elephant ride if available. Over night at a home stay.

Day 7 to 9 |
You would stay two nights inside the Periyar wildlife sanctuary. You will travel 28 miles in jeep through villages and forest to go to the campsite. Get set to immerse into some real wildlife viewing. You could either stay in a forest lodge or tented camp.

Day 9 to 11 |
Leave the sanctuary by afternoon. You are heading for a plantation home through winding roads. You will stay overnight at this homestay.

Day 12 |
We depart from this plantation homestay and proceed to Cochin to catch a flight back home.
