Day 1 |
Touchdown in Ernakulam. A representative will meet and greet you at the airport. Transfer to the Heritage hotel. Have breakfast and relax. Start your day with a city sightseeing tour, which has a history of Portuguese and Dutch architecture and style. You will visit the Jewish synagogue, and the Dutch Palace, built by the Portuguese in 1555 and containing some excellent murals and then we go on a walking tour of Fort Cochin and browse some of the antique shop through the narrow lanes and chaotic traffic in Ernakulam.

Day 2-4 |
Hop into a train that would take you to Alleppey. Reach Alleppey and drive to a quaint little homestay in the backwaters. Unwind yourself, relax and enjoy the splendors of the backwater. One of the 'must do' dining experience is trying out country style cuisine of the fresh water fish, 'Karimeen'. Your village walk will create the flavor for your stay at the homestay and provide you with a richer understanding of the surrounding environment and culture. You would also travel to see the Sree Krishna temple in Ambalapuzha, a typical Kerala architectural style.
Check into a houseboat which is anchored by the side of the canal. This 70 feet houseboat (kettuvallom) takes you through the labyrinth of backwater canal as you observe the rustic life on the fringes of the canal.

Day 5-6 |
Enjoy a drive through towns and countryside on your way to Kumily. You are heading to a plantation farm/retreat that combines the peace and tranquility of a hillside getaway. En route, have lunch and make a few stops. Soon you find a plantation retreat nestled among plantations. Your are welcomed by the host of this plantation home. Late evening spend time with the host and get to know more about the cropping and vegetations in this plantation and find more about the communities and villages around the plantation.
The following morning if you feel really zapped up after along drive from Alleppey and activities in the farm, you could well seek an Ayurvedic massage to restore and tone you up body and soul. Take a trip to Vagamon, an area unique for grasslands, a pristine unspoilt landscape identified as a biodiversity hotspot falling within the Western Ghats.

Day 7-9 |
Check into one of the popular hotels in Thekaddy and get set to immerse into some real wildlife viewing. You can start with a boat ride into the lake to view some wildlife that comes to the edge of the lake
Today, you are met and transferred deep inside jungle a distance of about 40km from Thekaddy. Reach this forest lodge. Chances of encountering wildlife are bright You stay in the forest in tented camps or the forest lodge. Depart early morning for some wildlife sighting. Just before afternoon you head back to the camp and then to the waiting jeep that will take you back to Thekaddy.

Day 10 |
You will reach Thekaddy by evening. Head back to a resort further up and a little away from Thekaddy town

Day 11 |
Check out of the hotel to head towards Madurai where you could pay a visit to the colorful and divine Meenakshi Temple. The temple is dedicated to Shiva, known locally as Sundareshvara, and his consort Meenakshi.Capture the daily ritual of camels bringing water from the temple pond to bathe the idol. Later ride through the town in a rickshaw. If you still have time you could still visit the Thirumalai Nayak Palace, very close to the temple. Overnight in a hote

Day 12 |
Today you will be catching the day train to Chennai to go forward on your onward journey.
